What is a Notice of Impending Suspension?

A Notice of Impending Suspension is a warning from the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles that on a future date your driving privileges will be suspended for failing to answer a ticket..   To avoid having your driving privileges suspended,  the ticket must be answered in the court or the fine must be paid.

If you drive while your driving privileges are suspended, you can be arrested and charged with the crime of driving while suspended.   In addition, a suspension on your driving privileges can trigger an increase in the cost of your auto insurance.   A suspension will remain on the driving record until January of the 4th year starting from the year you clear it.    Your insurance can be impacted for as long as the suspension is on your driving record.

It is best to take action before the suspension date.
